A lewk at Festival X with Angela Heng.

This week is the week! Australia’s hottest party of the summer is debuting in Brisbane on Friday 29th November, then heading to Sydney on Saturday 30th November and finishing up in Melbourne on Sunday 1st December 2019.

The tickets have been purchased. The set times are in. The ‘fits have been organised. The girls are ready. Now, we turn to one of Festival X’s make - up influencers to help us get our skin primed, our palettes out and to give us some tips on serving major lewks at the festival.

Angela Heng, give us life!

First of all, hello! How long have you been a make - up artist for? Where are you from? Where do you work? Please tell us a bit more about you.
Hello! I’ve been a makeup artist for almost 8 years now! I’m located in Sydney, Australia and I’m a self taught freelance makeup artist, specialising in bridal makeup and special occasion!

Do you have a favourite event or occasion to glam your clients for? And why?
I definitely loveeee doing bridal makeup! I get so excited seeing my work pop up everywhere on social media/ seeing the professional photos and videos. It’s an amazing feeling knowing that my brides have chosen me to be a part of their special day and being involved in creating beautiful memories for them to cherish for the rest of their lives!

We have seen your instagram, and OH BOY your special FX make-up is fire. Tell us a little bit about your experiences with FX make-up.
Thank you!! Honestly, everything is self taught and I just learnt the basics off YouTube. With my SFX makeup I always aim to create something original. I draw inspiration from many different things - through Instagram, movies, art, real life etc. Most of the time I visualise a certain look in my head, and go from there. My more extreme SFX looks can take up to 8 hours because I’m always changing it up and perfecting it

What are the skin-care routine steps that every festival goer should be doing pre-festival to prep their skin for the day? Give the fans some answers. And by fans, I mean us.
Definitely face masks!! I know most people are short of time but it makes the biggest difference to makeup application. Plus, your skin will thank you for it. If you have a little more time on your hands or you’re bothered, I recommend using a facial scrub prior to applying the mask. Your makeup will just look flawless. And don’t forget your SPF!!

What is your holy grail beauty product? One that is so essential to your makeup routine and/or life that you'd rather get run over than see it discontinued.
I wouldn’t say this is a certain “beauty product” from a specific brand but the one thing I can’t live without is false lashes/lash extensions!! I can live without any other product but not without lashes 🤣 I’m just not the same person without them.

Do you have a philosophy when it comes to make-up? Are you a less is more type person?
Never wear makeup for anyone but yourself. You should use it to express yourself and there’s no right or wrong way to apply makeup as long as you feel confident. Never let anyone tell you how much/little makeup you should be wearing.

What make-up trends (if any) do you expect to see at Festival X this year?
I’m thinking there’s going to be a lotttt of neon! Also animal prints and utility outfits. Lots of long colourful braids. I think glitter and gems aren’t going to make as much of an appearance this year.

And finally, the question I personally want to know - what are you wearing and what look will you be serving at Festival X?
Undecided atm! I have 4-5 outfits (standard). I usually just choose on the day and which compliments my outfit the best!
